Wanted to ask you about this "do the 4x4 lights blink at all?

I had this issue, my lights would blink sometimes, mine was a simple motor replacement on the transfer case. 4 10mm bolts, and a single plug, and about 20 minutes of my time laying on my side under the truck to replace. oh, and about $70 for the part. "" ...my 4x4 is not working at all. I put it on 4x4 low or high and nothing happens only when i put it back to 2wd the lights do flash and they also flash when driving around on 2wd. Was this similar to your issue? my concern is that I have no power to fuse #28 so don't want to assume that it is the motor on the transfer case
