Default Cleaning and remounting my Emblems ?

So I pulled my ranger xlt emblems to paint my front quarter panels today, And was wondering what should be used to clean them and get all the old rubber gunk stuff off the back. Then also wondering what the rubber gunk stuff is and where to get some for remounting ?

Thanx

3M double sided tape is great for applying the emblems back on

I used goof off to get the stuff off before

Ya you can get the 3M tape at a auto parts store. Autozone has it I think it's 5.99 for a roll.

I like to use stuff from Home Depot for it's width. The 3m stuff I see at body shops are only 1/4" wide strips and taking the red plastic paper off of it in multiple strips kinda sucks.

Here's a pic of what I used on my bedrail caps...

And here's a pic of the backside of my fender emblems using 3M emblem tape(that I don't like using after using this stuff I got at the depot)..

get emblems off without messing up your paint.....use some fishing line probably 40 pound test it slips in behind and cuts the old like butter. I use this method every day on any emblem any car

did you sand that chrome first? if you didnt, the paints just going to peel right off. i was lazy one day and just painted the chrome without prepping it and a few days later it was just about all off. so i sanded it and its holding up good now
