Alright, so my Ranger is suffering from the yellowed headlights, and I was looking around online, and...I thought I would give toothpaste a try, what could it hurt?
Just regular white toothpaste, and a soft rag.

(I know the pics don't show TOO much of a diff, but...there is one.)

Yeah take REALLY fine grit sandpaper to do this. Hit up Sonic04Edge, I know he just did his Contours headlights right before he bought new headlights

you need to sand then buff it out, everything else is just a temporary solution.

I found the best thing for that kind of thing is autosol, the metal polish, its about as harsh as G3 Cutting compound, use it wet though and it will take some of the harshness out of it.
Just so you know, you can actually use autosol metal polish on your paint! if you have scratches use it on a wet rag, but be careful not to rub to hard, just do a bit then check, do another bit then check again.....(g3 is the best for this and is designed for the job but Autosol is not a bad alternative if your desperate) then use a light T-Cut and then finally a good polish to bring it all back like new.
