kind of going back to this, I just wanted to show you guys a comparison of a water based tire product vs. a jelly/petroleum based product in reference to attracting dirt and such. I did a test where I used Meguiar's hyperdressing on the front 2 wheels, and I used Meguiar's Engurance gel (which is still jelly based, but it's the only jelly based product from my experience that will not turn your tires brown with years of use). I washed the truck this weekend, and we had some snow fall and with snow came the salt on the road. These pictures have been taken after 3 days of driving.

You can see how much more salt and debris were attracted to the tire by the jelly based product. Also, I did not use any product on the tire treads of the rear wheels just to show comparison if no products were used at all

So silicone products damage the tire rubber as well? I know petroleum does, but didn't know that about silicone. I have been detailing my cars since I was 16 (30 now) and have found the best tire dressing results with Armor All Extreme Tire Shine Gel, a silicone product.

If the weather is dry, the tires will stay shiny for 3 days, and stay black for 7 days. These are the best stats I've found, and have used Turtle, Black Magic, Armor All products (cheap stuff).

I am guessing I need to step it up? Meguiar's Hyper Dressing is the best? Where can I buy it in a store? (Would like to avoid internet/phone purchase.)

i dont use tire shine shit at all. i think it looks better that way. I can clean my tires with a white rag and not get any black stuff on them because of it too:

I use Meguires foam. Works pretty good. I just make sure i don't put it on if i plan on hitting any gravel roads. That Wesley's tire bleach works good to. Leaves a nice black look without a shine.
