Default Remove magnet residue

The guy I bought my Ranger off of had an at home business and the magnets were still on the truck. I managed to get them off using floss so as not to scratch the finish. However, I am left with circular residue on the truck, and I can't seem to get it off. Goo gone didn't do much for me. Anyone got any other ideas?

try a clay bar.. is just the glue from the back of the magnet, or pieces of the magnet itself?

What's a clay bar? Never heard of one...and it's some glue I think. It's definitely not magnet pieces and it's not unfaded paint because it is raised a little bit and only part way around, not the whole circle.

There is a product called "Goo Gone". All the auto / hardware stores sell it.

http://www.magicamerican.com/googone.aspx

You can use WD-40 on a rag. WD 40 usually does the trick with a little elbow grease.

I guess you missed it, but I tried goo gone, didn't do much for me. I'll have to try the wd40 idea though thanks.

A clay bar is a detailing product to remove water spots, tar, road grime, sap and light pitting in paint, it is like wet sanding, but the clay is so fine, it wont hurt the finish. Most kits should come with a lubricating solution and the clay bar. This will probably be your best bet.
Another thing you can try is liquid wax if you've got some in the garage, dab a good portion on a micro fiber towel and work it in a straight line horizontally with the length of the truck. You can use your fingernail through the towel and get pretty rough with this technique without harming the finish also.

Hey guys, I tried a WD40 pen I found at the dollar store. That and some elbow grease knocked the residue out like it was nothing! Thanks for the ideas and help.

Do a Google search on WD-40 and it's uses and you'll be amazed!

Glad it worked!
