Is that similar to Simple Green? Or is it stronger?

Not my Ranger but it is a Ford!

Step 1: Start engine, make sure its warm before you do anything else.
Step 2: Cover any critical parts such as the alternator with foil.
Step 3: Hose down the engine, you will see steam (Thats good).
Step 4: Spray Simple Green all over. Put down the hood and let sit for 5 minutes.
Step 5: Open hood, scrub any places you believe need scrubbing, then rinse off entire engine.
Step 6: Start the engine. Let it run for a minute or two.
Step 7: Take a tire dressing of your choice and spray all over (try not to get any on the belts and watch out for over spray).
Step 8: Come back in a little while and admire your beautiful engine.

Thank you, that is so helpful to a 17yo who kinda new at engine stuff, i ran a car wash business and got payed big bucks for detailing but never thought of cleaning up under the hood, i'm gonna do that to my ranger as soon as it warms up outside.

Well yeah. You want the engine somewhat warm though.

Well fine. Ignore step one.
But seriously....don't wash the engine when its hot. You'll be fine if its a bit warm.

Yeah...but go ahead and follow the other steps...Oh I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not but before you apply the tire dressing, make sure you wipe down any excess water. You'll want the engine to be pretty dry as well.
