Ok yall, i'm just wanting to clear this up. What are the best ways to clean and make my truck shine? The only thing i've ever done is wash with car wash soap, but i'm really wanting to take care of this truck. It has some deep scratches and chips, but i'm guessing i'll have to go through detailing to fix those?

Anyways, What are the steps for compounding, polishing, waxing, washing, and anything else? Im planning on using mostly meguiars products. Ultimate compound and ultimate polish, gold class wax, clay bar kit, and some sort of car shampoo/conditioner. is that all i need to do? and I was also wondering, will this mess my paint up with the scratches and chips in it? Any help is appreciated!

sorry guys, i guess it may have been better to post in there, but i'm just clueless in this subject. ive looked up videos on how to clay bar and wax. im pretty sure i know how to wash and dry. how do i compund and polish though?

How deep are the scratches? Only light scratches will be able to be buffed out

i have a feeling this used to be a work truck, these scratches range from small to huge, deep to thin. its ok if all the scratches don't come out, i just want to keep the rust out and keep it clean. i do occasionally off-road and different things like that, also, dirt roads are unavoidable around here. So, this is more for just cleaning.

wash with CAR soap lol some people like to use dishwash.... use a carabana wax, yeah thats spelled wrong haha
i have a kit from turtle wax i like made for black cars, great finish i love it, dust seems to fall off it. its called black box. clay bar is probably a little much to be honest, unless its a show vehicle.
for the scratches i find scratch doctor is the best, gets out some pretty deep scratches anything else get a touch up marker from a local part store.

and tire shine, cant have enough haha

Dont do it in sunlight and don't put a lot of pressure or you will put swirl marks in the truck. Black is a very easy color to f up. The product works well. Easy, simple, and I use it on my black truck and mustang no problem
