Pissed
I hadn't seen my friend for a long time because of finals and he wanted to hangout so he bribed me with a free car wash so i went to go hangout with him. When i drove the truck home and looked at it in the sun the swirl marks are the worst ive ever seen. i cleaned and clayed one little area to make sure i could get it out and it worked but it was extremely hard. What would you guys do to fix it? (it wasnt him that washed it, it was an actual carwash with workers.) ill post pictures tomorrow

Re: Pissed
damn dude that sucks, i wouldnt trust my truck with a place like that, especially since youve got a black truck. most ppl dont understand paint and different ways it can scratch. but i understand your situation tho..
but i just picked up a few weeks ago meguiars ultimate polish. its pretty fine and is supposed to take out swirl marks. i havent used it yet but plan to use the polish with the orbital buffer than use the Ultimate wax

take it back to the carwash with the cleaner and clay bar in hand and tell them you will wait while they fix it.

Some how, don't think that will work. You should know the risks of taking your vehicle through ANY car wash..touched or touchless. Only time my truck EVER saw a car wash was in the winter, I went through a touchless, to take a layer of salt off. Never go through a touched.
This is shitty man, but now you know to avoid it. Clay bar, and a good wax will seal the deal. IF you want to fix your paint 100%, talk to Peyton, haha.

Re: Pissed
yea dont run them through there.
get a random direction buffer, and mothers scratch out. good coat of wax after. and remember not to apply pressure to the buffer. Work at it and your paint will look like this:
Best i could get to catch any swirls.

Re: Pissed
I would NEVER take my truck to one of those places. Not even if I was bribed with lifetime free carwashes.
If you want something done right, do it yourself. At least that way you can't get mad at anyone if you fuck up, lol.
And as mentioned before, the only time I haven't personally washed my truck is once when I took it through an auto car wash. No one, EVER, has washed my truck but me.

Re: Pissed
Oh yeah, that's like rule #1, never go to those clearcoat homicide carwashes. It's sad that those places are allowed to use such shitty rags to dry your vehicle with. On top of the sketchy brushing equipment inside the wash. I had to learn the hard way. I wanted to sue those people afterwards.
The only reason places like that remain in busness is because there are a TON of stupid, naive, and negligent car owners out there

Re: Pissed
you need:
http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-dua...sher-g110.html
some of these:
3 Tangerine (polishing) and 3 Crimson Pads (Finishing):
http://www.autogeek.net/vcpad-6pack.html
M105 Fine Cut Compound:
http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-mir...-compound.html
M205 Ultra Polish
http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-205-polish-8oz.html
And some AWESOME sealing wax after all that is done:
http://www.amazon.com/Collinite-Liquid-Insulator-Wax-Combo/dp/B005ZUMLV6/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1339179873&sr=1-2
Instructions:
wash the paint with two bucket system (with grit guards) to reduce risk of more swirls., dry with microfiber waffle weave towel, clay it if possible when done. Then go to town with the M105 and the buffer using the Tangerine polishing pad, switching out every few panels to a new pad. Also in between applications, take a rag to the pad with the machine on. Once the whole truck is done, get a fresh finishing pad and put some M205 for to get the finer swirls and get out any that the compound may have put in. Then switch to a crimson finishing pad with the polish again. then switch to another crimson finishing pad with the Collinite 845 wax and seal the truck. do two coats for more protection. Let the first coat dry for 15-20 minutes, wipe off and reapply some more, wipe off. rinse vehicle. then dry and wipe down with a quick detailer.

There's 1 more step I'd like to add:
Afterwards, drive by that carwash, honk horn to get their attention, and flip them off.
