Stock Ranger brakepads SUCK when it comes to brake dust. Go aftermarket. You will not be sorry.

they're 10 bucks for a ceramic set right now on Advance auto website...As for the cleaning, NON chlorinated brake cleaner and palmolive dish soap works the best for me with a scrub brush..

I had a can of the eagle one never dull laying around and decided to try it on my stock rims which were in really bad shape due to brake dust buildup. It took roughly 6 hours of work but they came out awesome.
Did you just apply elbow grease with the rims on the truck, or did you soak them first? I am amazed that you were able to get the rims that clean since they almost look brand new.

Yes, actually, semi-ceramic (which my dad never heard of), and he not only retired from FORD as a laborer but also does his own oil changes, brakes, etc. There is even a thread started by me about a year ago when I needed new pads and roters at 47,000 miles. FORD confirmed that my original pads were shot and my roters might be O.K. if done A.S.A.P., but they wanted $250 for the work + a complete tire balance. I waited a month or so, and my brakes got worse, and I was shopping around. I went to National Tire Battery (NTB) for their opinion, and they confirmed the pads were shot, and according to them the roters were bad also since one pin was stuck or they may have been able to turn them (it was questionable). I had them replace the pads and roters, but overall, I'm not 100% pleased with the results. First, they claimed to use NAPA premium pads, and although the braking is fine, nothing like wow these are amazing! Plus, they had a squeal to them -- not incredibly loud and not all the time, but still annoying. I went back twice in three weeks, and I know that they test drove the vehicle and confirmed the squeal. They were never able to make it completely go away. I heard the excuse, "Oh, there is a 250 mile break-in period", or "It is winter, we do use proper grease", and "We did regrease to be sure". They were pleasant and did seem to try to fix the issue, but I don't feel that my brakes should squeal -- even if it is only 10 - 20% of the time. Anyway, I don't know what the FORD dealer would have put on. The second issue is brake dust, which appears to be about the same if not worse than the OEM. I would not recommend the brakes that were supposedly installed, but I know from confirmation that the receipt states NAPA Premium. I need a tire rotation soon, and I am going to possibly go somewhere else, and I'm going to make sure to ask how the pads are looking.

"Semi-Ceramic" and Ceramic are two different pads. I have Ceramic and i get not brake dust. Im sure its there, but not visible. Go get you a set of true ceramic pads, and you shouldnt have any brake dust.

Thanks. I may be needing some new pads and rotors here before long. I also might be needing some new wheel bearings too but I aint for sure yet. The front end of my truck felt a little rough this morning when I took mom to the doctor and the left side felt like it was trying to grind a little bit.

i wish I could find it again, because I'm almost out, but I have this can of Simple Green Foaming spray cleaner, best ever, spray it on, wait a few minutes and I could wipe it clean with my finger (but i used a soft shop towel anyways).
