I have done this before, still do sometimes. I have a blower attachment for my weed whacker

Most of the time its not nessasary. If you install a house water filter to your pressure washer or in your hose somewhere, you get a spot free rinse

I'm only basing that on personal experience of course.

I've never been careful when i washed my GM cars, and always been to the same car wash when i felt lazy, never had scratch issues and i used to pay more attention entering car shows.

My ford however..

I've been wanting to try either a blower or filtered water.

I don't have a whole house water filter but do have it in the kitchen. Our water reeks of chlorine most of the time.

There's a garden hose water filter I've been wanting to try but haven't yet.

The carwash I go to has a spot free rinse on the controls where you put your money in. It's not as strong but it does get the job done though and I have noticed a huge difference too. There was a carwash that has these blowers for drying purposes but it was destroyed during the tornados that leveled my area. I was going to that one for a while until the tornados leveled it. Dang it I says. That does sound like it's a good idea, but I do have doubts considering that airbourne dirt particals get propelled into the paint at 200 mph. I'll just stick with my super soft absorber which I do not apply pressure with. I let the absorber do the work instead.

A little trick to not getting spots is to use a hose with no attachment when you rinse...Don't stick your thumb in it to get pressure, water with air in it is more likely to leave water spots

I'm renting a house so I wouldnt even consider water filtration. Landlord wont even fix anything, they leave it up to me. Cheap asses!

My 2005 GMC Service Van would agree. There's no point to wash it. The clear is about as thick as a dead dried leaf.
