Default Out with the old. In with the new.

I just bought a 2000 ext cab stepside as a daily driver so I could keep some miles off my other car. I forgot how nice it was to have a truck.

I got a great deal on it but it needed some tlc so I got to it

I removed some old decals, pinstripes and the yellow, flaked clear plastic protector stuff and detailed it.

Products used:
3m pinstripe eraser
Goo gone
Porter Cable 7424
Menzerna polish
Miguires HighTech Yellow #26 Wax
303 aerospace protectant

Before

After

I did not get the best pics. Only had my phone with me

I HATE the wheels. But they have brand new tires. I'm keeping my eyes out for some nice 15" wheels that aren't so damn ugly. And wide. A few years ago I had a 2002 explorer. I still have the wheels off that. I will be swapping them out soon but those wheels don't have new tires and they are 17".

Thanks guys. Just replaced the ball joints, front shocks and sway bar links. What a difference. They were all bad when I bought the truck so I finally got to feel it ride the way it's supposed too. I am very pleased with me new toy (although this is supposed to not be my toy but I am not able to just let things be). Once I pay off my real toy I will be doing a lot more to this.

I was surprised that I didn't have "tan lines". I didn't really have to polish the doors any more than the rest of the truck either. It all came together nicely.

I'm in the process now of fixing some paint on the front fender. The bumper was pushed back into the fender slightly and must have scratched it. The previous owner tried to fix it with spray paint but he taped off around it instead of feathering it out so there was a harsh line from touch up paint to original paint.

I hooked a come-a-long to a tree and pulled the bumper out. Then wet sanded the touched up area and around it some. Taped off the lights and went to town. I've done a bunch of small coats over the last week, making sure I don't get over anxious and spray more than I wanted to. The color matches perfect. When I get home today I am going to hit it with some 800-1200-1500 sand paper and then pull out the porter cable and polish it back.

This is my first attempt with paint work on this scale. So far and I am happy with my progress and I will post some after pics when its done. I forgot to take before pics but if you look closely at the first picture you can see a faint line from the corner light and goes back to the wheel well.

Thanks again guys for the comments.
