Arrow Headlight restoration (Mothers VS Megiars)

Needed to restore the headlights on my Ranger, as they were getting a little pitted and foggy. Im sure you all know what im talking about.

So here is what I did, I compared 2 of the most popular Healight polishes.

-Megiars plastix
-Mothers Headlight Polish

On my passenger side headlight I used the plastix

here is the before

and after

mind you it is a bad picture , but overall the result was satisfacory. the fog was gone but the pitting was not.

Now here is the drivers side. It is the mothers polish

before

and after

this stuff is outstanding if you can get over the smell. it isnt roses.

im impressed with them both. But overall the winner in my book is Mothers!

personally i think that stuff is a waste of money...all you need is some 1500 and 3000 grit wet sand paper and some rubbing compound...works better too

just plastix isnt going to get rid of the pitting. i wetsanded the headlight using 1000 then 2000 grade sandpaper [tamiya, to be specific] and then used plastix on the lens. i honestly fooled a LOT of people with this, they swore my headlights were glass when they felt them.
before:

these felt gross. like almost fuzzy. the truck spent a lot of time in the high desert

after wetsanding:

i dont have a pic of after plastix, but it was even better.

sorry for jacking your thread, just giving you or anyone a good alternative. just let the sandpaper soak for at least 20 mins and, like anything else in life, keep it wet.

nah man thats what this thread is about!

It said on the plastix bottle it would remove pitting. I just followed the instructions on the bottles for the PUREST form of this experement. No extra steps. If mine were as bad as those I would of wet sanded.
