i dont use wax i use a hand glaze. it gives it that wet look and no build up if you ever have to paint any part of the vehicle the clear coat will blend easy

i help a friend of mine who has a self serve car wash and i run my truck through there daily and use the $9.00 wash which gives me a double rinse, a pass of soap, a high pressure rinse again, a wax , then a spot free rinse. then on nice days i use a shammy to dry it off. just one of my perks for shoveling other people's mud of the self-serve bays. then once a year or if i go to a meet & greet for one of the ranger sites I'm on i hand wash and use mothers products on it

What kind? Paste? What are you using to apply and remove it?
I usually go over the truck with Meguiars Quick Detailer after I wax to make sure everything is off.

depends on how much you wanna spend, lol
under $25:
Meguiar's NXT (for a high shine and durability)
Meguiar's goldclass (for a deep rich gloss)
any adam's wax
collinite Paste wax (885)+
Meguiar's M26 high tech wax
Poorboy's waxes

$25-$50
Meguiar's M21 polysealant
Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant
Pinnacle signature II
Wolfgang Fusion
Migliore Fruta or Original
P21s

$50-$100
Migliore Primo Blend
Wolfgang Fusion Estate
Pinnacle souveran

$100+
Migliorie Competizione Blend
Dodo Juice supernatural
Wolfgang Fusion Estate wax
Zymol Jaguar Glaze

I can keep going, main thing is, glazes look nice, but wear off within a month, carnuaba based waxes give you a deep rich gloss and last 1-2 months (even the expensive ones), and sealants or polymer based waxed will last 2-3 months and give you a high shine, but sometimes lack the deep color of a carnuaba. Your best bet is to get a nice layer of a sealant down followed by a couple layers of a carnuaba based wax....
