My truck is a 2002 got her used and these penstripes have obviously been Baked on in the sun over the Years..does anyone know any great methods for removing penstripes without scratching the shit out of my truck

googone has a sticker remover that comes with googone and a plastic scraper

honestly it seems like they are stickers ...i can scrape them off..tiny broken piece by broken piece..until my fingernail starts hurting ..lol....I went and purchased that googone sticker remover and it did no good..the scraper sucks..it actually did put light scratches on my truck and did worse than my fingernail !!..lol

sounds like they are painted on...because the stickers once they start to peel are extremely easy to get off...but the painted ones just come off in little pieces

Try softening it with a hair dryer first and see if that helps I used a heat gun and took my time not to mess up my paint. Whe I got my truck it had a company name on it and some numbers along with a really crooked set of pin stripes. And they were fire engine red on a white truck so they looked horrible. I have taken off quite a few decals and stripes and my heat gun usually does the trick for me.

If your vehicle has painted stripes, use the lacquer thinner or enamel reducer to test a spot and see if the paint comes off. Most vehicles have clearcoat paint that prevents the stripe paint from staining.

Another way, is to block sand the stripes with 1500 or 2000 grit Wet-n Dry paper. When finished, slide over the areas with a low speed buffer and a low cut compound. I know this takes some skill and experience, but it does a good job, with little impact to the clear.

Make sure to show us before and after pictures. I have some numbers on the side of my fenders. I've tried everything to get these off. They used to be stickers but when they were pulled off the glue dried into the clear coat. So my only option is to get them repainted.
