Default Got me leather seats but a few questions??

Well i picked up my leather explorer seats and my new rear bumper.

well my seats dont match my interior but i cant complain since everything was free. but they need a good cleaning. what the best way to clean these seats? and im thinking about painted them black with the dupli-color interior paint i have used on the rest of interior and it holding up great. i saw on trucks a long time ago they took acetone or alcohol or something and cleaned with it and it was suppose to open the pores in the seats so the paint would stick better. does anyone remember that? because i really want black seats since the rest of my interior is black.

I doubt it would hold up very good

I used duplicolor interior paint on something before it was vinyl and it rubbed off within a few weeks.

Cant you just get seat covers?

They make leather seat DYE

DYE your seats

Use SEM brand leather & vinyl spray dye. Clean 1st with SEM Vinyl/leather prep. It cleans & opens the pores.

Just google SEM upholstery dye.

Great stuff & easy to use. Holds up great.

I get mine from the auto paint supply store here in town. Some Napa's & Car Quest parts stores carry it.

Sorry, no I don't. I haven't been redoing any old cars for about 4 years now. So I don't have any pics. I'm sure there are still a few cans of SEM in the basement.

Wouldn't one think that putting seat covers on clean leather seats would ruin the whole aesthetic and feel of the plush, smooth and lustery qualities that those seats have to offer.

My next move on my truck is to not only get expo seats, but get the center console also. My problem would be trying to find one in black or grey. I wonder what other models of Ford trucks interiors would cordinate with the Grey & Black scheme.

If not, I would be forced to Dye them too.

best leather reconditioning system out there right now: http://www.leatherique.com/
it does take a while (usually can take up to 12 hours depending on the leather condition) but the results are amazing
