Exclamation Polishers ???

I'm looking in to buy a buffer / polisher. My Question is a Porter-Cable Polisher worth the money or shold i get a cheaper version like the Craftsman one? If you have any experience with the buffers / polisher your input will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I got one from Harbor Freight and have been very pleased. I had never used one before and had a bit of a learning curve but have gotten very good results first on my Harley then on my daughters Mazda3. Both are black vehicles and were taken from sad shape to beautiful in just a short time. Can't wait to do my truck as soon as the weather and my schedule cooperates. (And I decide not to take out my canoe and waste my days off fishing!)

My dad has a craftsman buffer/polisher and he was pleased with the results he got years ago. I bought a cheap polisher at advanced autoparts almost 10 years ago and have been happy with the results I gotten for many years. Just remember to let the buffer/polisher do the work but stay in control of your equipment. If you're not careful, you could ruin your paint job. I watched one guy burn the clearcoat off his vehicle from applying too much pressure. His paintjob was ruined 2 months later because of this.

I have the older version of the Porter Cable-IIRC it's #7335 or 7336. I use pads from Griots Garage. Great tool--if you can find one of the older ones, I'd reccommend it over the new one--Porter Cable's aren't what they used to be since they were absorbed into Black & Decker/Dewalt.

get the new porter cable... you won't be disappointed. If you have extra cash, get the flex dual action polisher. On a side note, porter cable makes polishers for griot's garage as well as meguiar's so they are all the same internally.

Not sure what your tax rate is like, but amazon has the 7424XP for the same price as sears, and if you buy it from Amazon you don't have to pay sales tax or shipping... might save you a few bucks.

I used the craftsman 7 inch orbital, good warranty on it, and it does great on everything. All together 50.00 with an extended warranty at sears
