I just purchased a 2011 Ranger. I have never had a new vehicle. My other vehicle was old. What is the best wax to use on todays painted finishes.

I like mequiars
You would also benefit buying a clay bar kit. Every few months do the whole truck and wax it.

This is what I generally use inbetween the clay bar

After I clay bar I use the show car glaze u find it in the paint section at Orielly and autozone.

It is like a putty, spray the section of the car, squish up the clay to make it a little softer and to fit the palm of your hand, wipe the panel you sprayed, keep it lubed with the mist wax, then take a micro fiber towel and wipe it down. After that put cleaner wax on and buff it off by hand

----------

If you buy the Meguiars clay bar kit, it comes with everything. You can find it at Walmart the cheapest

There is no "best" wax it's all about preference.... keep in mind "generally" anything that is synthetic will last longer than natural carnuaba waxes. Spray waxes only last about a week on your paint.

If you clay bar a section then apply wax. Take one hand and rub it down a section you have not done. At the same time use the other hand and rub it down the section u used the clay one.
It is a night and day difference.

Congrats on your new Ranger ....

Mines a 2010 and I love it !

Last year you folks told me about the clay bar , and I am very impressed . Did it a couple times last year and will do it again this year as well . I like Meguiars as it seems to last for a while ... I try to wax once a month at least ....

Might give Rejex a try. Fast, lasts and "Bugs" don't stick to it! We also use it on airplanes helocopters and travel trailers. Rejex.com

I've been using Black Magic on the Ranger and on my dad's Safari. Leaves a nice finish and doesn't swirl. Once we run out of that I'm gonna move over to Meguiar's. I'm very impressed with their other products.

Definitely use microfiber for application and removal; wax comes off so much easier. I picked up some nice microfiber towels at Napa for a good price. They are a flannel type, some of the softest towels I've ever felt.

Meguiars NXT tech wax 2.0

gives the paint a nice pop

STL also uses some great stuff

i've used a LOT of waxes....workin at o'reillys i like to test a lot of stuff we have so i can give honest reviews about it....my detailing tub is filled with almost $300 worth of detailing and cleaning supplies (my GF thinks i'm nuts)

the NXT wax
the Mirror glaze series (stick with the 6-8 for best results)
Turtle wax ICE clay bar kit
Nu Finish car polish (stuff in the all orange bottle)

are all amazing products
i love cruising in the rain after a fresh wax and watching the rain just fly off the truck
and these seem to do the best job
