Ok, so from 26 years of driving and engine oil leaks, Dirt, and grime what would be the best method of cleaning the engine and compartment and the undercarrage?.

I am almost ready to make an appointment to the washer guyes. I did some checking around and found the best guy for this job. he is experianced with the above, and heard he does a good job. He's also doing a engine compartment detailing. All three, cleaning engine, undercarrage, and engine compartment detailing for 60.00.

This needs to be done. This is the second engine in this truck. The engine has no flaws at this time runs like a top, purrs, and is clean. The carberator (2.0 carbed) looks and runs like new.

Over the years with the first engine, the other owners, ran the truck with what looks like a rear seal leak, and the dip stick was not in the block all the way, so it was leaking and throwing oil all over the compartment. That is fixed. Found a dipstick and tube in the scrap yard from a 2.3. Fits like a glove.

Okay, so, what does everyone suggest: Power or steam? or what else is there?. Seperate for the engine and seperate for the undercarrage?. After this cleaning, I will be ready for the nice weather and custom painting inside the engine compartment, The engine, and the undercarrage.

What do you guyes suggest?

If they use a good degresser a power wash will take off anything that is there. I have not seen any steam cleaning that does any better then a power wash.

i have a indrustral steam genny, the difference is night and day. the 78 had grease thick oil and shit and my powerwasher wuth degreaser removed some but not all so the steam genny cranked her up and everything was squakey cleen. wear a fase shield i did for once and it helped

I have used a degreaser and just running water from a hose and it did well

Think of it as a cup of cold grease is gona fall out of he cup but it's Gina take alot longer than a hot cup of grease. It's easer with steam but you can make do with spiket water and degreaser

The professional whom is going to do the cleaning is going to use a degreaser first, then power wash. He's doing two passes, and have his men detail the engine compartment.

I heard a lot about this business, good speaking of the business. I'm making an appointment after the engine work is done. I should have everything done this week.

ive never took before after of engine grease but if it warms up like its supposed to i will probally be detailing a 3500 cummins. farm truck so shes dirty

i detail cars for a side job, its been 30deg or lover the last couple months and were supposed to hit 40+ for a week. so that means i have 4cars to detail, i degrease the engine.

he has a 3500 dodge with the cummins. and its a farm truck. so it is covered in dirt mud grease so if i take a before after pic of steam genning it i can post the pics of before after with just water and degreaser

True steam is gonna run about 280-300 degrees and will probably require little if any degreaser.... If you use hot water pressure washer (180-200 degrees) you will definitely need some degreaser and cold water will require even more chemical. For the most thorough clean I recommend true steam but it's a huge unit and can be a PITA to obtain. It really depends on your limitations and willingness to use chemical as well as how clean you really want it to end up.
