make sure the car is off. take wire off terminal. Scrape the shit outta it with a Copper brush. Cover the terminal with grease. Put terminal back on.

take negative side first (black wire) then take positive off. clean both Posts on the battery and terminals on the cables. grease is optional...then reconnect cables. doesn't matter too much of what order you put them back on just make sure they ae tight and you are done.

Remove the cable from the negative terminal first (blk cable or look for a minus (-) sign on the post, the positive cable is usually red has a plus (+) sign). Reverse when reconnecting, positive first, negative second. If there is a lot of corrosion, you may need to use a pair pliers to remove the clamps. Be careful not to short any tools you use against the car when they’re in contact with the battery.

The corrossion may have damaged the clamp(s). Should the damage appear extensive, replace the cables and clamps to avoid future problems.

Keep the loose cables from flopping back onto the terminals while cleaning to prevent any shorts.

Put some baking soda directly onto the posts and scrub with a toothbrush dipped in water. Use it to scrub the baking soda to clean and neutralize the battery acid/corrosion on the terminal posts and cable clamps. Make sure you protect your skin and eyes.

If the toothbrush isn’t enough, use a battery terminal cleaner brush or wire brush insteadit. Also clean up the inside of the cable clamps by using the clamp cleaner that usually comes attached to the terminal brush or steel wool pad.

Dry everything off and apply grease or petroleum jelly on the posts and clamps to slow down future corrosion.

Replace the positive clamp, then the negative clamp. Tighten and replace the rubber boot or plastic shield (if provided) that covers the positive/negative terminal. If you don’t have one, you can buy some at your local auto parts store.

Baking soda and water will clean that up. And if you really want to get rid of it, get a containter and put bakingsoda and water in it and soak the terminal end in it until it no longer fizzes. I've done this and it seems to fix the problem.

Yes it works. It also leaves you with a sticky battery and its a sad waste of a good coke.

While you have the cables off, check to see if the corrosion has spread down into the cables insulation. If it has, you may wanna cut out the first few inches if you have slack. That corrosion will continue to eat away at the wires until they are broken.
