Default New member / retiree ! Help Please !

I have a 65,000 mile 99 Ranger ( 4x4 no rust) and I tried changing the light within the overhead courtesy lamp . The light went in great but now I have two problems.

#1)..I can NO get the cover back on. What is the secret ?

#2)..Now when I close the door the light stays on and does not go off.

Any help would be appreciated.

this is a common problem in the 99 and up rangers.

get a can of wd-40 or similar lubricant and spray it in the door latch mechanism. then slam the hell out of the door a few times and the light should go off. i had to do the same thing to fix the problem in my 01.

as for the cover going back on, gingerly squeeze/bend it so that it will snap back into place.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.

edgeman is right. You are saying you just took the cover off to change the bulb? The lens should just snap back on. Also check to see if your dash light dimmer switch is in the on position. Also what edgeman is saying, the door switches that control the dome light are made into the door latches.

I have an extended cab and sometimes the back doors will not shut all the way and will pull air in and make an awful racket at high speed. Try using WD-40 on all of your latches.
