Default Exterior Black Bottom Window Trim Residue

The black exterior bottom window trim on my 94 XLT comes off on my hand when it is touched. The black residue also runs onto the white paint after a washing or rainfall.

I was thinking of getting "New Restorer Black" to refinish the plastic. I don't feel warm and fussy about going through the process before I cleaned the plastic residue first.

I was wondering how to clean the plastic before appling the "New Black Restorer"

Does anyone have any experience in this detail???

Get I believe it's Mothers Back to black. That stuff will turn any dull or faded trim, plastic and more back to it's original black color and makes it stay like that. I've used it for my door and tailgate handle and it works wonders. Give it a try.

I have heard of the "Back to Black" to restore the plastic. What do you think about the black residue that comes off? When you used the "Back to Black" did the residue go away???

Never had any residue. You could try and use some purple power or goopy gone something in that area should get it up.

when i got the trim from the junk yard the black residue was bad, I'd recommend washing wash them first then put the back to black on it and let it sit for like a minute and wipe them down, i also thought it was just for plastic also but i just decided to try it and it worked

I tried to sand that crap off with 1000 grit sand paper. I could get it off but it never went away, its like it went all the way through. I ended up taping it off and repainting.
