Default MAF cleaner

Ive had idle problems for a while on cold starts but havent really done anything because after about 15 seconds it corrects itself. But yesterday at about 2.5-3k RPMs it missed twice (cut out for a split second) And today I noticed it felt like it was bogging slightly. Im moving 500 miles away in 2 weeks and cant afford to get stuck on the way there...So I want to try to fix this now so I will know in 2 weeks whether imma have to tow my truck or if it will be good to drive.

So after reading through threads and what yall said when I first started having the idle problems Im going to clean my MAF and IAC.

My questions are:

1. Can I use MAF cleaner on my IAC or should I buy electrical parts cleaner AND MAF cleaner?

2. What brands or whatever do yall recommend that I should be able to get locally.

3.Do I really have to remove this whole piece (what the guy is holding) or can I just take the sensor off?

This is where I got the pic.

CRC is what I always use. I used the MAF cleaner for my IAC

You dont have to remove the sensor from the housing. On the later models you can access the sensor while it is on the housing.

Yeah figure if MAF cleaner is good for you MAF, it's good for other sensors.
Electrical parts cleaner is for contacts and connections only since it leaves behind a water repellent film.

its a 95 4.0....so you think I should take the whole housing off or just use the torx screws to remove the black peice...and MAF cleaner will be good to use on the where the wires plug in?

Dont need to clean where the connector plugs in.

It is up to you if you remove just the housing or the torx screws. Just don not touch the metal part of the MAF sensor.

Have you red the How to on cleaning this?

Thanks a lot dude...I read the how to that I posted a link for...but I like yours, I was about to basically drench the thing with the maf cleaner and let it dry for hours...Glad I read yours before I started lol. For some reason the second link just took me to the home page...but Ill find that (assuming its your IAC how to) before I get started too.

Think Ill look in where the sensor goes after I remove it and decide if I should take everything apart then. Thanks again you guys!

I just noticed how often you're supposed to clean these...Im embarrassed to admit I havent done it in the year (25k+ miles) Ive owned the truck and I never saw my buddy do it when he owned it (not saying he didnt)

The IAC is under the maf cleaning in the engine how to sectipn. Dont know what I did there.

I clean mine every other time I clean my air filter. I think they recomend it everytime you clean/change the filter.

Got some CRC on the way home...read your how-to's decided I would watch an episode of Dexter to let the engine cool off and passed smooth out for 12hrs in a chair....Im training someone at work tonight, so hopefully they will get the gist good enough that I can go out front and do this....Thanks again STL

Oh and when I went to the parts store to get the CRC, I popped the hood to try and see if I was gonna find some gypsy stuff...the scres holding it on are phillips...so apparently he did clean it...
