Default What To Charge

Recently Ive been approached by a few people asking for me to detail their vehicles. I was just wondering what you guys would charge? A guy at work wants me to detail his Gen 4 Ranger (ext. cab) and his wife's Escape, what would you recommend to charge?

Edit: I was kind of vague with my original post, I meant "detail" as in wash/clay bar/ wax and clean interior and armor all

50 each, but that depends on the level of your detailing, the more you do (claybar/wax etc) the more i would charge.

well, you should start at $50 for a coupe/sedan, and go up from there in whatever increments you want. You might want to cut him a deal if you do both cars in one day. I personally, would be charging $75 a piece for them.

I was thinking $40 for the ranger, $60 for the Escape, but then again I was thinking of giving him a deal because he's technically my first paying customer. So I was thinking of keeping it kinda low until I get my name out there and charge more once that happens. Also, thinking of making business cards for myself

botton line is, if the price you charge him, makes you happy for your time/labor/skill/products/etc. then it doesn't matter. Make sure you charge more then what products you used so at least even if you lose on the actual labor you'll break even on the products....

The problem with giving someone a "deal" is, this is the price they will remember and tell their friends about. Then it's more difficult to raise your price later, because everyone wants" the deal". Charge just under the going rate a pro would charge for the same job.

If you do a great job, tell them $150 for both vehicles. (That's detailing both vehicles, not $150 a piece) and in the future tell them $75 a piece for wash, wax, and interior.

i like that idea... you gotta realize that this takes time! you'll be there for at least 5-6 hours at $150 that's $25-$30 an hour

In my business for full details interior and exterior for cars like those I charged 100.00 each and told them if they wanted it done again, i would take 15.00 off each car or throw in free shampoo. Also I had an incentive program, clients who got me business would get 10.00 off their next detail, if they brought me 10 clients they would get a free full detail. People ate it up, I got so busy I had to stop and that is why I am selling my business, I have no time now and I want to be with my family. At one point I had 4 people working for me and detailing all week long and I was detailing too, I just stretched myself way too thin. If you do it take your time and go at your own pace, Look at my website for other prices to get an idea www.mirrorautodetailing.com
