coconut oil
I was messing around my ranger today, and saw how nasty the rubber around the windshield has become.
So I scrubbed about a foot section at bottom and side with a tooth brush and cleaner.
The ladys house i'm staying, had some coconut oil in a little tub,i guess they clean there face with it??
Anyway i put some on the rubber i cleaned, and WOW ,it looked damn near new.
I don't know how long it will last but it sure looks good.

Re: coconut oil
After a week or so it fades back.BUT it does
lubricate the rubber. And thats what we want.
I use it on different rubber pieces on my truck.
Its better than nothing and it certainly won't hurt anything.

Re: coconut oil
Coconut oil is also dirt cheap and will slowly add moisture back into the rubber.

Re: coconut oil
Where do you find cheap coconut oil!
Is it for cooking?
I'd like to use coconut oil for making stovetop popcorn but that stuff is real expensive!
At Walmart $12 for 16oz of coconut oil or $3 for 48oz of vegetable oil.

Go to your local earth/hippie/natural food store, you'll get the safe to eat stuff for peanuts.
We have both in the house, I'm not convinced there is a difference between them.

Re: coconut oil
Does no one else use 303 Protectant for this?
You can't get old rubber that has worn/deteriorated to soak up new oil, that part will never happen.
What you can do, is build up a coating of the treatment you apply to keep it looking nicer for longer, and preferably with some UV protection in it (it's what kills the rubber/trim in the first place)
