Bad looking rims
What do you think boys, is painting these the best route to go?

Re: Bad looking rims
I personally would just look for a nice aftermarket set on Craigslist or even new. If you really like those rims and want to keep them, I would take them to get sand blasted and powder-coated

Not so much a case of really liking them, they were just on the truck when I bought it Might just use them for winter rims and pickup something nicer to use in the summer. The pic is the worst looking one, the others aren't as bad, but they aren't beautiful either

Re: Bad looking rims
I'd say that's a good plan.

Rob, check out this video by ChrisFix.
His turned out incredible, so if you're interested in painting them I'd do something like that!

Re: Bad looking rims
Aluminum rims though? I don't know, I think they're beat up enough that they should just be winter wheels

It's winter all the time in Canada though, right?
Lol yeah, that's probably your best option.

Re: Bad looking rims
You could also just remove the rust and spray paint it.

Re: Bad looking rims
I recently bought a 2004 Ranger with the same rims but in better condition than these, but I wanted them better. I am not a perfectionist but am picky about wheels. I popped off the center chrome (really is plastic), cleaned the rims repeatedly, sanded with very fine sandpaper, sprayed 3 coats of primer, and then sprayed my final coat of enamel. I used a plastic dish sealer to cover the lug area when spraying--and protected the tire and car from over-spray but using masking tape on the tires and a cardboard cutout. A pro would have taken the wheels off, but it turned out fantastic. Not in the position to send pictures but will if I get time later. Masking tape won't stick to tires unless you take off take off all grease or oil from their surface, but with the combination of a little bit of masking tape and the cardboard shield it worked.
