new guy needs help getting my FX4 back to looking good!

Hello everyone!

I have a 2003 FX4 -black. I am a painter by trade and its my work truck. I have paint on the inside and out. What I want to do is get the exterior looking sharp as possible. Interior , I don't care as much.

Should I use laquer thinner, goof off, or a scotch pad to get the paint off? Then what process to get the best shine possible. It has many scratches, and a few dings. But all in all its a great truck.

I also want to paint the plastic fenders and the bumpers.

I guess I'm looking for the best system to get it back to looking good!

The best thing I ever used to remove paint on the exterior was easy off oven cleaner. Spray the spots, let it sit for 5 mins only and then wipe off. Once your done make sure you wax everything you used the easy off on. Wear gloves too, the cleaner will dry your skin bad....trust me I know!

going to try the oven cleaner trick. also going to clean engine, and paint plastic fenders. what is the sheen of the spray paint people are using? flat, satin, or gloss?

I'm thinking satin, but not sure.

satin for fenders. I suggest Krylon fusion, But its all up to you!
