Default This is how you get OBX mud off of a truck (56k warning)

Say what ya'll want, "I have cleaning OCD", 'its a truck", etc...but that dang mud was coming off of my truck. It was fun while it lasted, but it was time to get it to premud condition. For those of ya'll that dont know we had a wonderful trcuk meet on the OBX and it was a blast. See thread:

http://www.fordrangerforum.com/meet-...re-thread.html

Well it was time to get the mud off. It couldnt be good for all the parts espacially since the engine was pretty much caked along with all susmension and brakes.

Two hours before:

the culprit:

The aftermath;

Front suspension:

Motor:

New wheels caked:

Then it came the fun part of getting mud off:

My front end was submerged, so you can imagine the mud that was in it:

Clean motor:

Bed off, the rearend was actually the worse, the spare tire was a bowl of mud:

Finally back together:

The last pic, an old man came up to and told me "young man, yu have the sharpest Ranger I have ever laid eyes on. Its so clean!" I told him he didnt see it the day before...lol.

Anyhowm the truck is cleaner now underneath than before the mud. That is the firstand last time i go in mud. I dont mind sand and snow, but mud sucks. If i go through mud again, it will be with a truck I dont owe 11 grand on and one that i can mess up and not worry about it. The truck is clean, but it not yet the way i want it. it was so hot yesterday, i got a few waterspots i have to get off. I also have to clean my interior as it smells like the ocean!

You actually disassembled your truck to clean it. Now that is impressive.

Thanks, That was the only ways I knew to get easy access to things. Like i said that mud was thick and caked on parts, especially under the bed. it actually didnt take that long to take all these items off.

headlights come off by pulling two slides up and unplugging two plugs
Corners are two screws and a plug
Grille was 4 screws and two clips
bumper was (4) 3/4" nuts
Hood insulation was 5 plactic inserts
Bumper was 6 T55 bolts, three screws for the gas filler, and the plug for lights
taillights were 4 screws
mudflaps believe it or not, were 4 bolts and a plastic insert APIECE. And that was it. Assembled it in like an hour after finishing.

I just wanted that nasty smelly mud off of my truck!
and of course wheels and tires 5 lugs a piece

I had mud that was so thick on my right suspension the other day, that at 65 my front right tire was jumping off the ground I almost lost controll. I think they call it the death wobble? Im not sure.

I kinda got quite after mudding and realized that i came close to hydrolocking a truck that i still owe 11 grand on...lol go thing the mud hole wasnt deeper than it was. Ya'll should have seen the airfilter that i drowned twice! yuck!

I'm slowly losing the mud-fever and enjoying more rocks and trail riding. The aftermath of a day in the muck and mire is just so time consuming.

I'd love to get my hands on a beater, but I'm holding out for the perfect deal. Keeping my eyes pealed for a full size Bronco or a Chevy K5.

Looked good with the mud on there.

Looks better all clean. Cant say I have ever seen some one take a truck apart to clean it though.

yes I am, i want it clean again! It was mint clean before the mud and I want it mint clean after the mud. im still not done. hand washed it again yesterday so that I could clay bar the hood and above windows to get rid of waterspots that i got the other day where it was so hot. I also took apart my stock intake and cleaned the crap out of it and took out the airbox and cleaned the crap out of that.

With all this being said, looking at my motor yesterday to see I missed any spots, i found something that HIGHLY pissed me off! I found oil leaking from my crankshaft. Looks to be coming from right behund the pulley, so it must need a new seal. going to try and fis that next week and change the oil. I refuse to have a 63k mile truck with an oil leak. That was the whole effing reason i bought the truck, so that i wouldnt have to deal with problems so soon. First the TPS sensor, now this! Ill be making a seperate thread for this!
