Sticker on glass wont go away
Hello,
Anyone remove stickers, thoroughly clean it and the tint of the sticker still remains there? There is no residue at all however I can still see where the sticker used to be and it's pretty distinct.
Thanks

Are you able to post a pic of the area you are talking about?

Re: Sticker on glass wont go away
My truck had the same issues, the previous owner had stickers on the windshield and back glass.
I used a razor scraper with a fresh blade to remove the sticker and wd-40 and scraper to remove the left behind adhesive.
Yet you could clearly see in the glass an impression or shiny spot from the stickers. which is worse when wet.
The last time I washed my truck I used a SOS steel wool pad with soap and cleaned the entire windshield making sure to rinse the windshield and truck off well.
After it dried it was 90 percent better, the next step I have yet to do is to polish the entire windshield with glass polish.
Some say you can use regular car wax for this yet I feel the wax will rub off on the wiper blades making them less effective.
In your case you may want to remove the new sticker you put on your truck, clean and polish the glass.
( yes you will have to get another sticker if you want it to look right )
Then clean the glass with regular glass cleaner. ( like Windex )
After the glass looks like new and shows no sign of the old sticker apply the new sticker you want on the glass.
If you want to make sure the glass will not show where the old sticker was, run some water over the area before applying the new sticker.
The problem is the area that was covered by the sticker does not have as much build up on it giving the covered area a shinier appearance.
I probably could have made it perfect with just the SOS pad yet with my bad back and neck I couldn't rub on it long enough.
I plan to cleaning the glass again with a SOS pad before I do a final polish with glass polish.

Guess you learn something new every day. Would never have thought about using an SOS steel wool pad on a windshield--would think it would look like 'scratch' city.

Re: Sticker on glass wont go away
It's refreshing to see that the stickers from the university I graduated from are lasting. Go Cougs!

Another cause is sunlight. The stickers act as a shield, reducing the exposure to sunlights UV content. Longer the sticker is on, the more profound the difference.

Re: Sticker on glass wont go away
I would polish the surface to remove/lighten the sticker marks.

I had the same problem, I had to remove a "I love pugs" sticker and Goo-Gone did the trick

Re: Sticker on glass wont go away
I agree with polishing, but it also looks like you have tint that is faded around it? Might be the picture.
