Best way to clean this carpet?
Here's a photo of my carpet, seats removed. Bleh, right?
I want to remove as much as the crud as I can. What's the best way you guys have cleaned your carpet?
Also, steam-cleaner vs shampooer. Which is better?

Back when I had carpet I used a shampooer with a heating feature. I got this really good heavy duty cleaner/stain remover from Walmart too. Not sure what it was exactly but I know bissel made it. Basically anything bissel you should be okay.

Re: Best way to clean this carpet?
Good thing, because we own a bissel shampooer too. It doesn't look as bad in the picture, but in person it makes you wonder if someone ate spaghetti in there.

I use a bissel shampooer on mine, it also has the heater function. Does the job for me.

Chemical Guys has good cleaning products for the carpet. Folex is also great for removing tough stains.

Re: Best way to clean this carpet?
believe it or not I have pulled the carpets out and took them to the easy off drive in car washes and used the pressure washer soap/ rinse then left it out in the sun for a week to 10 days , clean, no funny odors

Heated bissel also. Carpet cleaner. I also use lemon simple green on the tough stuff with a nylon brush.

I thought about doing that, but the shampooer itself worked fine. Someday I'd like to put new carpet in but that will be a while. Unfortunately the sucking part of my bissel took a crap so I had to use a shopvac with a spinbrush. Worked out well, still smells like I just cleaned it.

Re: Best way to clean this carpet?
In my '94 I used to take the carpet out, hosed it down, gave it a light spray 9'ing, brushed it in, rinsed it good and let it air dry it for the afternoon.
And a shop vac when it was re-installed to get rid of the stiffness/re-fluff it (phrasing)
