Default Who's old paint still looks good?

I've got my 2000 ford ranger and kept it so well that it looks better than my friend's '06. Tell me what you think of this paint job, just clayed and waxed it.

Looks good

Some people just dont give a crap so they paint goes pretty fast. If you keep it clean and apply wax at least once a year you will help it stay good looking

looks nice! its good to see another gold truck
you should buy the 3m headlight restoration kit and shine up those lenses

my paint is in great shape but unfortunetly there is a few little dings and my rear bumper is bent down (from previous owner)

My paint is from '98 and it's decent all around, minus the door dings and few scratches. I loveeeeee black paint but don't think I would ever get a black vehicle again. Don't got very many good pics being as spring just started and yesterday was still -20.... will post up some more pics after i do a better wash job.

I feel your pain, -20 sucks!!!

My paint is still good minus the two dents on my truck that are getting fixed in the next year when I get a real job lol It's a 97

Same with the Sonoma and it's a 99

Waxing and washing are a must on both trucks. And I wash the Sonoma everytime I'm in Washington. I also wax it at least once a year when I'm home. I waxed it in August when I was home for a week. Although when it gets so cold at night it makes it hard to wash the Ranger here, so I haven't in awhile. But I always give it a double wash when I do, and get the underside.

To Brodie_laj: Does that 3m kit really make that much of a difference? I just used some rubbing compound and I noticed a small difference, but they look ok to me. And yes, gold trucks are awesome, although they show the tiniest of scratches.

To SaskRanger: That paint looks awesome, have you clay barred it? And I know, black paint can be a pain.

RichardHoward, that Ranger looks pretty nice for a '97. I had the choice between this Ranger I have now and a '97 just like that. Kind of wish I went for the '97, it was a stick and this one is an AT.

Lol my truck does show the scratches, I just make sure to do a good buffing compound, and scratch remover, then a damn good wax. I spend HOURS washing and prepping before I even think about taking out the wax and using it.

Yep, I make sure to do the same. Today I spent two hours washing, and 3 hours using the clay and wax. The worst ones are the ones in the bed that are where the bed mat doesn't cover.

Does that 3m kit work well? I just use rubbing compound

I have never used the 3M kit, I have a buddy that swares by it, I just talked to him to ask. You might give it a try.

I am getting line-x in my Ranger. I have it in the Sonoma I have and it is single handidly one of the best things I have ever payed for to protect a truck. I have beat the ever loving crap out of it and it still looks good.

Thanks. No I have not clay barred or waxed it yet. The first day of spring was like +8 so I thought I'd make the most of it by spending a lot of the change that piled up in my cupholder at carwash.ca. All I did was soap, rinse, shampoo, rinse, rainx, tire/engine cleaner while rainx was settling, rinse and then parked er and gave a good wipedown.
