Hi, I am a new member as of today and I live in PEI. I am looking for information on any Rangers that have had a problem with the alternator nut on the charging cable coming loose. In my case the engine died while my wife was driving our 2008 Ranger with V6 4 ltr engine which almost caused a very serious collision with an oncoming car. It turned out that, as a result of the charging cable nut on the alternator coming loose, the terminal cooked which resulted in the alternator not charging the battery which ultimately died. Ford has refused to accept liability and pay for the repairs so I have initiated action in Small Claims Court. I have spoken to several licensed mechanics who all advised me they have never seen this happen to an alternator which has never been tampered with or worked on and could only have happened as a result of the nut not being properly torqued on the assembly line. My Ranger had only 82K kms on it at the time. The Ford Products Liability Manager testified at the pre-trial conference that there have been no similiar complaints with other Rangers. I would be very interested in hearing about any other incidents such as this involving Ford Rangers. Thanks in advance. Reg
