Exclamation Help with Head Unit?

Planning on buying an older Kenwood head unit from my friend. Should I spend the 15 bucks to get a wiring harness or can I just cut the plugs and hook everything up directly? I'm not sure I really understand why you need a harness...

i always get a harness, i hate to cut into wiring unless i have to. That way if you have to remove it for one reason or another its plug and play. however its your truck cut it if you want, but i would suggest the harness, hell go the the pick n pull see if you can score one there cheaper...

Don't cheap out and go for the harness. $15 is nothing.
