Samsung Galaxy Tablet Stereo Install (CarPC)
It's happening.
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus 16GB (will be putting in a 32GB microSD card)
I will be getting a Clarion EQS746 Equalizer so I can still control my audio to my liking, I have also ordered an Interfire IF 4VU VU/volt/temp meter gauge, and will also be ordering a 1/2 DIN DVD player so I can still listen to CDs and even DVDs if I desire.
I'm going to pick up an expo center console, which is where I'll mount the gauges, EQ, and DVD player, replacing the storage pockets it has on it.
I will be using a multimedia dock grafted into the radio bezel sideways to mount the tablet in place of the factory stereo.
This is the tablet:
This is the dock:
This is the gauge meter:
This is the EQ:
More to come!

Re: Samsung Galaxy Tablet Stereo Install (CarPC)
I guess I should say what I have now...
-Pioneer AVH P4300DVD 2DIN touchscreen (no GPS)
-Alpine 4ch, front MB Quart 6x8s, rear alpine 5x7
-Audioque AQ1200D, FI Q12 12" Sub.
so obviously I'll be losing the double din. (Make Offer!)
The tablet has a GPS chip so it will hopefully replace my Garmin as well. It will be easily removable but I don't want a hack looking mount, or windshield mount type deal, I want it IN DASH.

It's last years model (this year's is the 4400BH). I was thinking of asking $425 shipped, craigslist will probably ask $450 just cause I expect lowball offers. I'll match whatever they are going for on ebay though. I'll have to check on that. I'll post a link to the FS thread later on though.

have you seen the video of the guys building the ipad2 mount for an f150? soundman in norcal i believe is who did it.
if your GPS chip doesn't end up working well enough for you, i bought an $80 bluetooth GPS antenna to use my iPad as a gps in my truck. my mount is nowhere near as cool as yours though.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Tablet Stereo Install (CarPC)
not a bad idea man, thanks. I will have to buy some map/gps software as the google maps thing isn't made for storing data offline, other than short, preplanned trips.
I should also mention, I'm going to get a bluetooth OBDII reader, to stream data to the device, and I will be using the torque app to monitor the functions of my truck.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Tablet Stereo Install (CarPC)
i have Motion X on my ipad, it's a great app. i can upload GPS files for a route on/off road, you just need to cache the map file before you get out of wifi range (no 3g for me).
for reference, http://www.amazon.com/GNS-5870-MFI-Receiver-iPhone/dp/B004289ZW0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1342465566&sr=8-6&keywords=ipad+gps+antenna is the antenna. you can find them cheaper.
