Rear camera install assistance.
Started installation of a rear camera today. Pulled the Pioneer system, found the input on the back and found the correct wire to connect so the unit knows the truck is in reverse.
Where do I tie in the reverse sensing wire from the deck? Do I run a wire from it all the way to the back of the truck and connect it to the power source (reverse lamps) like I'm doing to give the camera power? Doesn't seem right to me.
Thanks for your help.

'fraid so !

Well, actually, you need to find the wire under the dash. Would be alot easier.

Ok.. At the back the wire feeding the reverse lamps is black/pink. I'm assuming it's the same color up front.

Re: Rear camera install assistance.
Should be, unless it runs thru some sort of relay or fusing, and the color is changed coming out.

Everything is installed. Here's the low down.
I ran power to the camera and ground from the wires feeding the left reverse marker. I tapped into the blk/pnk to the right reverse marker to feed the "reverse sensor" on the HU.
I then put zip ties at about 8" increments along the video feed wire and the backfeed to the reverse sensor wire and pulled them through the frame and over the front left wheel well. From there I made a very small slit in the steering column boot and pulled the bundled pair of wires to the back of the head unit. Once connected, I had to adjust the pos/neg camera settings within the HU for the camera feed and boom! Everything worked. Thanks for the input.

Re: Rear camera install assistance.
Any pics of install? I'd love to do this to mine. What camera did you use? I've got a pioneer deck that is capable of a reverse camera as well.

Re: Rear camera install assistance.
I recently upgraded to a pioneer avh-x3500 bhs, and Im going to add the camera. Thanks for posting your research. I'm curious as to where you mounted the camera. Down near the licence plate or somewhere else? i was thinking of mounting it up on the headache rack.
Thanks.

Rear camera install assistance.
I mounted the camera directly to the top License plate screws.
