What kind of CB?
Ok, so I have been wanting to get a CB for a while now. And a bunch of kids in my school have them also. But I have a few questions on the CB.
1. Do I have to have the same CB as them to talk with them?
2. Is their a certin kind of CB that is better than the others?
3. would this http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...431841012.html be a good one to buy?

1) No. Any cb to cb will work.
2) yes
3) no. You can get a brand new cobra 19 from Walmart for around $30.

Keep looking though, buying new sure is nice but I managed to practically steal one off eBay, 6 dollars with free shipping and I got a uniden 510e, has worked great for me!

Cobra, GE, Midland and Uniden are all the popular brands, you will be safe with any of them.. Cobra is the most popular with Midland and Uniden RIGHT behind..
I have used a GE, and it was great. I have a Cobra 75wxst in my truck now, and its better because the Ranger is small as is..and to add a CB, is a pain. So I went with this:
It happens to be the Mic and Base all in one unit. My dad and myself both have one, no complaints.
The next thing you have to consider is what kind of antenna(aka Whip) you want to put on..

Yes
Just get a cheaper one for 30 bucks. Stay away from the Cobra 19s they are complete shit. There are other models of the same price that make the cobra 19 look like a wal mart walkie talkie. if your gonna get a 30 dollar one get a midland 1001z. Only 30 dollar radio I know of that has an RF gain. It's a damn good radio for 30 bucks. Drop some coin on a nice one if your a trucker and you actually use it for long highway conversations and shit, otherwise those big deluxe cb radios are overkill for what you want it for. Plus the smaller radio will fit just about anywhere in your cab. Just tune your antenna and and you won't need anything more than a 30 dollar radio to talk to friends, trail ride, and whatever. If your a trucker or do a LOT of highway driving I would say get one over 100 bucks.

I have a Cobra 29ltd classic. Best freakin cb ever in my opinion. If you're gonna buy one don't buy a cheap one. You get what you pay for. See if you can find a good deal on ebay

Tuning an antenna is very simple. You want your SWR to be the same if possible on channel 1 and 40. I got my SWR meter for 20 bucks on amazon. Tuning does make a big difference and can keep from destroying your radio.

Where could I get a midland? And how much would this whole setup cost me roughly?
I was going do this earlier, but I was worried it would look kinda rice'y

Re: What kind of CB?
I don't know anything about cb's, but from looking at them im thinking about getting a midland 1001LWX40. http://www.amazon.com/Midland-1001LWX-Channel-Mobile-Weather/dp/B00176RNLA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=27T4RNVDU1OHG&coliid=I3FQC4XJP1D0BCAntenna spring, http://www.amazon.com/Firestik-SS-3H-Stainless-Antenna-Spring/dp/B00042LC9M/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=27T4RNVDU1OHG&coliid=IDZO4ABD119BHantenna, http://www.amazon.com/Firestik-4ft-Tunable-Antenna-Watts/dp/B000SB6SDE/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1357737104&sr=1-6&keywords=firestik+antennasure you would need cable also, but that may give you some ideas. I'm still just looking myself.

Re: What kind of CB?
Look at firestik for your coax as well

Re: What kind of CB?
I vote for the Cobra 29ltd classic. And why you're at, get the bluetooth version!! It comes with the talk back feature too. For the coax, get some 'merican made stuff. And nothing is easy as the tuneable tip firestik!

The CB has a port for a coax on the back, screw in the coax cable and take it to your mounting location. From there screw it into a CB stud, screw the spring into that and then the firestik into the spring.
