Default cd player

I have a 2001 ranger , v6(4.0), 4x4,and recently I pressed CD button and it said "CD ERROR". I kept messing with it and got it to eject #6 cd. I tried eject and load againand got same error. I took unit out of truck and took apart to look for dust or blocking stuff. It looked good.I put it back and now the disc identifying circles are lit to have a cd it them .Even #6 which don't have one in it. It won't play, eject,or load cd. Radio plays fine. There is a sticker on top of CD player that says " If dropped then discard". Now ain't that something. Ebay has one for over 200.00 but I can't pay that. I need to fix this one or get one for less than 50.00.

I had the same issue with my 6 cd changer when i bought my truck... i took the unit out and took the metal cover off of the 6 cd changer, there was 2 cds jammed in one slot
Once i pulled them out the player worker fine but then 2 days later the whole radio started turning off and on every couple of seconds...

So i went to best buy and bought a new head unit and installed it myself and have had no problems since, i heard that theese factory units are just crap... but hey atleast now i can plug my ipod into the radio too

"if dropped then discard" lmfao that is definitely somethin...
anyway, I would start unscrewing this and that, you should be able to completely take it apart and actually take out the CD's by hand. then, if you ask me, just use one cd at a time! lol

the same thing happened to my truck. i gotta 01, 4 L, 4x4. you can get your cd's out sooner or later. just keep on trying every time you start your truck. i eventually got all mine out. this is what i bought.

it's about the cheapest you'll find. it's worked for me. 80 bucks for the radio, and then depending on where you get your wiring harness and installation kit you'll be into it for about 100-120 bucks..
