Help me with my system =]
Hey everyone, right now I'm lookin to put a new head unit and door speakers in my truck i just bought *03 extended cab XLT* I'm wanting really good highs and mids. I only listen to country, I have a 12" kenwod excelon sub w/ a Rockford prime 500D amp.*not installed yet* So I need some suggestions! I'm looking at the kenwood excelon 996 head unit and possibly infinity door speakers? Just throw some suggestions my way please and thank you =]
Edit: Should I run the door speakers off a amp btw?

Pioneer 4300 DVD & Phoenix Gold T1 6.5 components. Best sound you'll ever hear.

You should run whatever you get off an amp if you want good clean loud sound.

Re: Help me with my system =]
The Kenwood will have better sound quality than the Pioneer but the Pioneer is a double din touch screen which is pretty cool and the iPod/usb interface is very nice.
PG won't sell product through Crutchfield and doesn't endorse internet sales. They only use authorized dealers with actual stores you can walk into to get first hand support. It's decent product and was recently purchased by a company that employs some of the original guys from PG when they were located here in the NW and were actually hand built in the USA. I've been talking to them for the last couple years and have considered bringing them in to replace a different product line that I've had for over four years but the PG line is a little limited in selection still in comparison. Good stuff though and the company that owns them now is doing a good job of building the line right.

I have to drive about a hour to get PG's. but I don't wanna do a double din conversion. My ranger doesn't look like its a double din, If it is ill go ahead an pick up a double . I'm wanting something loud enough to provide music @ bonfires, but still sound nice just cruisin down the highway.

Re: Help me with my system =]
The Excelon 996 is one of my favorite head units out there. Take a look into the Hybrid Audio Technologies Mirus, Imagine, or Unity lines for the doors. Anything above the Mirus I'd definitely amp, Mirus work well on HU power, but really start to shine on 50-75wrms.
Not saying the PG components aren't nice, as I like the newer PG stuff. For the post earlier that said PG is a relatively new company they REALLY need to do some research, it's been around forever.

Double Din size fits. All is required is a tad bit of filing with a fine rasp.

They lied to you. Lol. According to the PG website they've been around since 1985. The new PG stuff isn't bad, and the really old PG stuff wasn't bad at all... in between, ehhh.

We've got a pretty good collection of event, world finals, etc trophies hanging out around the shop. Lol.
I didn't say the PG gear was bad, just that they misinformed you about the companies roots.
