Default Oversized double din stereo install

Having trouble finding a way to install a JVC KW-AV60BT. The unit is bigger then both my install kit, and the stereo bezel opening itself. I don't think it is a simple trimming matter either. Has anyone else ran into this?

Is the double din too wide or too tall?

The eonon dvd headunit I installed in my truck was about 3/8" taller than the bezel opening so I had to modify the height... while I was at it, I filled in the sides so there's no gap.

Here's a LINK to my custom bezel pics.

Casper, i have seen that DIY but as i said its beyond what looks like a simple trimming.

Buggman, its too tall. I like how you have been able to modify yours with clean bends in your plastic. Im going to completely remove my bezel soon and see whats what.

I've done that exact head unit in a few of the Rangers using this dash kit;

You will have to do some trimming to the top and bottom of the bezel opening, but if the kit isn't fitting, you might have the wrong one. The Pioneer is the same chassis size so that won't do anything for you.

You have done this head unit? How badly did you have to trim the. Bezel? It doesnt even look like the stereos factory sleeve will fit in the bezel without a lot of mod. Do you have any pictures? Is there a bezel i can buy locally?

When the time comes to get a new head unit, I'll mod another bezel for it & sell my current one with the dvd

I'm having some luck setting something up for it to work with my bezel. I trimmed the top and bottom tabs of my stereo cubby on the bezel off. The unit now fits but is loose. I then took the face of the mounting kit and cut down the back of it to fit better over my units removeable faceplate. It can now fit flush over that. I next will glue the mounting faceplate into my ranger bezel in the right place to make the stereo stick out where i want it. And last I need to find a long 3-4mm machine screw to replace a factory one on the back of the new stereo. I am going to attach the old units mounting slide that goes over the rangers stock support. This should hold my unit at center and give it stability. I'll also attach some extra theft straps and what not to the back. With a little luck this thing will come out looking pretty good and be pretty stable. I did't even have to use the new harness for the new unit. My old El Kameleon's harness is basically the same as the new so it was plug and play I'll try and post some pics of my progress but the install so far isn't an impossible one.

With the right dash kit you won't need the radio sleave as it looks like you're finding out. The dash kit will also clip into the bezel opening so there is no need to glue it. The new radio will bolt into the kit and using the rear support bracket will help line everything up as well as keep a lot of weight off the limited dash kit.
