Default finished sub project(project log pic heavy)

i decided to put a sub into my truck. i looked around to find a good spot for it and after finding i didnt have whole lot of room and kicking out the idea of a powered sub i decided to build my own.
this is where i decided to put it.

i bought some foam insulation from home depot so i could shape into a mold for some fiber glass.

i cut out a 10" ring for the sub and taped it all with masking tape so the fiberglass wouldnt sink into the foam.

then i put 3 layers of fiberglass over the whole mold.

then i used bondo to fill all the dimples and cracks so it would be smooth for paint.

next i put on a few layers of primer then a few coats of hammered metal finish paint. the paint didnt quite turn out how i wouldve liked but looks good still.

next i ran all the wiring, hid the amp behind the passenger seat and mounted the box.

i thought it was a pretty cool project. let me know what you think!

Looks good. Just wonder why you chose Kicker. Does it vibrate the dash ?

im a kid, im 16 and kicker was the cheapest at the best quality i could find. but no you cant really tell from the pictures but i left a small gap so it doesnt hit the dash so theres no vibration. it sounds really good so far. i havent had any problems.

At 16 you are doing projects like this?!? Dude, keep it up and follow your dreams! (which, I hope has something to do with customization.. hah!)

Nice work and great idea with the foam. How did you get the foam back out? Must have been messy. If this is your first fiberglass enclosure project I'm anxious to see what you do next.

yeah i made a mess of my basement getting it out. i just cut it and pulled it out through the speaker ring. i considered using acetone to melt the foam out but it is the same substance you use to clean brushes and tools after you use the fiberglass resin so i figured that would ruin the box. thanks for all the encouragement^^

This looks sick!!! I tossed around the idea of maybe cutting out the armrest and middle seat and doing something like this in between the seats since I got a reg cab, but just don't have the guts to do it. Very nice job though from a fellow 16yr old!

i had the same idea but i wanted to make a full floor console that would hold the sub and have cup holders and the armrest as one big piece. i didnt have the guts to cut the seats either though haha.

What are you powering it with and what is the total volume of the enclosure ?

A kicker 250 Watt mono. And I'm not exactly sure. Its right around 1 cubic foot which is right at kickers minimum recomendation so I filled it with some polyfill
