| | HELP! have no idea what im doing
I bought a box with two 8" subs and two tweeters. In the back it has connections for positive and negative of left and right so 4 connections. There is a speaker wire coming out of one of the panels in the back so I hooked it up and its powering just the sub and tweeter on one side. I don't know where this wire is coming from. Can I just split off of that so there's enough wires to hook up both sides if that makes sense? Or can I tap into the door speaker on the other side or something? I have no idea how to do audio so I'm trying to learn. Do rangers have an amp and what Watt is it and where is it? I can post the spec of the subs if that helps because none of it makes sense to me. Hopefully someone can help me and try not to use technical terms because I don't know anything about audio. Also does taking power from the door speakers give it enough power or do I need a seperate wire? Also is my amp big enough to power it? Sorry for all the questions just trying to get this figured out

Most likely you will need to buy a amp and wiring kit.
Post the specs of your subs.

Two 8" Woofers Two (2" x 5") Piezo Tweeters Paper Cone Foam Edge 350 W Max. Power 1.5" Voice Coil 20 Oz Magnet Impedance: 4 OHM Freq. Resp.: 50-23KHz
One side will play but I don't know if its suppose to be louder? I would try playing both sides but don't have it wired enough. So rangers don't come with an amp??

unless a vehicle comes factory with subs, it doesnt likely have an amp. and not many do, unless its top of the line stuff..

Does it just take an amp and wire and I'm done or is there a lot more to it? Do I have to make the door speakers run off the amp or just the subs?

Your speakers are 350 watts, so get a amp that's at least 350 watts.
Your CD player doesn't have enough power to run those subs, it could actually damage your CD player.
You will need to run a cable from the battery to your amp, and RCA cables from your CD player to your amp. Buy a wiring kit, it will have everything you need.
Are you using the stock cd player? I'm not sure if that has RCA outputs, So you might have to buy a new CD player that has RCA outputs.

OK so I don't have to mess with the door speakers at all? Do I need 700 Watt amp since there's two subs? What about the tweeters, does than need a bigger amp? I am still using the stock CD player.

I believe there is an adapter to go from speaker wire to a rca cable, but that's super ghetto.. Check to see if your stock cd player has rca outputs, if not then maybe use that adapter temporarily.
You will be much better off buying at least used CD player with rca outputs and the cd player wiring harness and mounting kit to install it into your truck.
You will also need to run a "remote" wire from your cd player to your amp, This is what tells your amp to turn on, So you might as well run the rca cable with it to your amp.
The boxes you have are not sub woofers, they are woofers with tweeters. They will play the full range of sound just like normal speakers. (subs only play bass)
If your amp has a low pass switch on it(for subs) make sure that's turned off.
Buy a amp wiring kit, and not the cheapest one, that amp will use allot of power and it needs a decent size power cable with a fuse.
I hate to rain on your parade buddy, but those boxes you have are probably made in china and not very good. Your amp is probably decent, so I recommend hooking it all up the right way, then later you can swap in some 8" subs into those boxes. (as long as your amp has a low pass switch on it for subs, you won't need a crossover)
Recommended:
New/Used CD player with rca outputs
CD player wiring harness
CD player mounting kit
Amp wiring kit
Run:
Power cable with fuse from battery to amp
Remote wire from cd player to amp
rca cable from cd player to amp
Ground wire from amp to truck body
Speaker wires from amp to boxes
Your amp will drain your battery fast if you use it without your truck running.

alright here we go hopefully i can answer all your questions. if your using a stock stereo the best bet to get the rca signal to the amp your going to have to use a hi/low converter and thats how you can tap it into your rear speaker but i would highly recommend using an after market stereo whenever you have the money for it because the signal will be much better. the rangers do not have an amp so the signal is direct from the stereo . and like the other guy said get an amp kit its going to have the power wire, ground, remote, and rca, oh also a fuse holder the amp should be fine too. the wire has to be and i mean has to be put through the firewall theres a boot where the steering column is at run it through there just not too close the the moving part of the column the remote you can get it from the acc fuse just be very careful to get the right one or if you get a good hi/low it comes with the remote output prefferably get that it hooks up to ground and 12 volt and it produces the remote and the rca thats pretty much it oh and put the fuse 12 inches at the most from the battery the fuse is not supposed to be farther than that

Can you post here the brand and model number of that speaker box and/or the speakers ? If it is what I think it is, the stock speakers in your Ranger are just as good. I doubt the box will handle an amp. If you want a sound upgrade, a new aftermarket head like Pioneer, JVC, Alpine, will greatly improve the sound, even from the stock speakers, but I highly recommend you upgrade those also.
If you can post a photo of the box and speakers and/or post the model numbers and brand name, I can help ALOT.

I don't have money for a new headunit with RCA inputs so where do I get an adapter or how do I go about tapping off the rear speaker into the amp if I understood that right? Ill get the model numbers of everything when I get home. I have all the wires already except the RCA cable because I don't have anywhere to plug them in so all I really need now is a temporary alternative to the RCA cables. Also the previous owner already has speaker wire tapped into one of the rear door speakers. I don't know how its done but can I somehow plug the speaker wire into the amp?
----------
The amp is pioneer gm-x962 and its a 760 Watt. Will it hurt anything if the amp is more Watts than what its powering is supposed to be? The box is from pepboys its a sondpex. I bought it from a buddy for cheap and it sounded good in his car better than some other peoples I know cars who put $400+ into their system

You do not need RCA anything for that amp or the speaker box. Is it a 2 channel or 4 channel amp ?
