I am installing a cd player in my Ford ranger and can't get it to keep its
memory? what do i do? The cd player will power on and play but once i turn off the vehicle it does not keep its memory. I have all wires hooked up correctly. This is a pain because I can't set clock, presets, custom audio, etc. I had this problem before and had to run two wire to the same wire so that it would keep its memory but I then had to manually turn off the system because it wouldn't turn off with the vehicle. Any solutions?

well you do NOT have it wired right, the memory wire I belive it is the yellow wire, that need to go to the battery or other 12V constent. your main power shoudl go to a switched 12V so you don't have to turn your radoi off all the time.

yeah, you dont have it wired right like 98blownranger said. have a friend or someoone who knows exactly what there doing help you out ive been working on car stereos for years and its not as hard as it may seem... but unless you want to go threw the hassel of reseting everything every time you get in the car i would try hooking it up correctly

Did you not use the proper wiring harness adapter? Or did you just hack the plug off?
Perhapsifyou specified the year and model of what you had we could help you better than just stating the obvious that you did it wrong.
