Default OEM radio swap ?

I have a 2011 Ranger XL with the standard radio (no cd). I have a chance to pickup an oem radio w/cd player also from a 2011 Ranger for cheap.
My questions are:
1) Is this a direct plug & play swap?
2) Do I need to unlock or decode the radio that I'm swapping?
3) How easy is the swap?
Any help is appreciated.

When you push in the U shaped radio removal tools, make sure to spread them out to the right and left of the radio. Makes removal much easier

yeah it should'nt give you many peoblems, make sure if u make the "U" tools, make them out of a fairly strong wire or coat-hanger. I used a thin one and it was a pita. Just make sure you align up the rear support (little white bracket), buddy didn't and he wondered why he heard clashing every time he hit a bump (he's a lil goofy).

Thanks guys. I'm gonna order the radio removal tools from ebay. They are only $3.00 or so for both.

Ok guys, I've been waiting for these removal tools that I bought on ebay for a couple of weeks. I haven't received them yet. I think I got scammed. I knew the cost was too good to be true. Oh well, only out about $3.00.
Anyway, I made some out of coat hanger wire. It took a while, but I was finally able to pull out the radio and install the cd player. It sounds great for factory oem. Would aftermarket speakers make it sound better, or is it just a waste of time? The reason I went oem stereo is because this is my daily driver and I don't want the worries of having it stolen.
Thanks for the replies.

If you aren't planning to amp beyond your head power, these are sensitive enough to work well off the low power -

5 X 7 is the most common measurement, but 6 x 8 will work just as good.

Very nice speakers for the price:
(and they are very expandable should you ever decide to amp them seperate)
