Attn: Alpine owners
So Tom let me know about a little device called the alpine power pack (p/n ktp-445) and I looked into it, put it on my x-mas list awhile back and completely forgot about it. Well got it for x-mas and just installed it, and wow it is nice! The only downside was finding a place to mount it. For now it is in my glove box but I think I will probably end up mounting it somewhere else when I find a place to put it. They are giving my JLs a nice new full sound to them. So I highly recommend it to any Alpine owners out there. It is around $100 online from a quick google search.
There is a shite load of wires on this thing FYI:
Stock pic, I forgot to take a pic before I installed it.

Umm skeptic here.. It's powering your jl what's? And how many watts does it push?
My guess is that it's similar to a factory amplifier for your door speakers outta the headunit. But that's just my guess.

Looked on alpines website and it is just a simple plug you plug into the existing connector on the radio. I think you swap them out.
The one currently on the radio plugs into this thing then the one from this goes into the radio

Yes it is similar to factory amp for the door speakers. It was free and easy to install and gave me a good power boost.

i got one of these a couple months back when they first came out
none of the dealers knew too much about them besides what the box read. gave it a shot and it does do a nice improvement i have type r's and type s speakers and they sounded much better on this. Install was simple, but mounting became a bitch. mounted mine under my glove box with some zip ties. hasnt moved so im assuming its good.
worth the 115$ easier than a 4ch amp to install, no need to rewire your car and runs 45wrms to each speaker.

what a coincidence...
I just aquired an Alpine-CDE102 Head unit for christmas from my mom I plan to install soon. Unfortunately, it takes a load of money and little time to go from all crappy factory stock speakers and stock radio to an all new setup.
Thats why i am glad i ran across this thread. I did intend on buying an amp for my speakers that I plan to install, but i need to know..... you think it will do the job for all my new speakers? and where abouts could you find one of these locally? (bestbuy?, etc.)

It is doing the job for all my speakers currently.
I am sure bestbuy carries them, but they are a lot cheaper online I guarantee.

Ya, it says it pushes 45 x 4 which is should be perfect for me. I like rock n' roll, so it should blend right in.
One of the Electronic Technicians that visited my dads shop last weekend told me about this swweeet website where you can find anything electronic for cheeep. www.crutchfield.com . That same CD Deck amp went for 120.00 with free shipping.

I whish I could even think about putting Alpine Type S's on my truck.
U should just go the extra mile smakes and put in some Type X's. Those would probably make my girlfriend scream with pleasure.
