engine idle in bass
I have a 12 inch kicker sub in my ranger and for some reason every once in awhile the idle of my engine will be played through the sub. Does anyone know why this could happen?

Re: engine idle in bass
Most likely have some power and signal wires too close to each other.

Re: engine idle in bass
This might sound strange but sometimes when spark plug wires start to get old and worn out, they can transmit "noise" from the ignition firing into the audio equipment...

That was mainly before electronic ignition came around.

Re: engine idle in bass
Also old. Thanks. Looks like we have the same truck, unless you have the 2.3 or 4.0.

Your power wire and RCA cables are on the same side. That's why you are getting engine noise. Make sure that they are on opposite sides of your cab.

Re: engine idle in bass
I have 76,000 miles on the 3.0 the thing runs great, super reliable and honestly in a 2wd truck it never seems underpowered.
It seems that the meere mention of a 3.0 around here opens up a can of worms though.

Re: engine idle in bass
IKR ? Mine has 79000 and runs great and is fast off the line and will peg the speedometer. So, IDK ? Yes, very reliable. I think I am having transmission problems, tho. Only real gripe I have is the MPG. I would like larger tires, but the front already rub when turned all the way one way or the other and I don't want it raised any higher. Would rather have it lower, actually.
