Yes, recommend you do all that first, in that order, then if you still think you need a bandaid ... er... stiffening capacitor, OK.

Oh, no capacitor for me. At all. It will be big 3, aftermarket batter, and then bigger alternator if need be. I hope not though lol

+1... Been into car electronics and stereo's since the early 90's, but I've never heard of a "big three" upgrade.

I'm doing the big 3 in my 98 3.0L ranger xlt and I need to know how many feet of power and ground wire I will need.

Ok... But there's another wire connected to my positive battery post... It doesn't go to the alternator, and when it is disconnected, all the electronics still work... But my truck won't start. Can you tell me where that goes?
