Default Thinking about running this setup.

So I'm thinking about running this setup in my 2002 reg cab.

Kenwood KFC-C6893PS
6"x8" 3-way car speakers

JVC Arsenal KD-A925BT
CD receiver

Sound Ordnance™ M-2100
2-channel car amplifier — 75 watts RMS x 2

think that will do the trick?
I dont really want to run a sub.
I listen to mostly Punk and Metal.
and well lots of classic rock too.
i just like it loud. not a huge fan of heavy bass.

Will work fine. The HPF on that unit is very sensitive. You want the HPF on and set the gain with the HPF turned fully counterclockwise. SuperBass 0db, it's for a sub. Let me know if you need help with setup.

Sounds like a decent setup. I can however suggest if you want full sound quality id invest in a small sub... like an 8''. It will add greatly even to Punk/metal. (I know because I like the same style). That and the unit you are getting has LPF adjustments too so you can adjust the power of the amp to the music youre listening to.

yes but for a small sub a small amp will do the trick. Or... the deck you plan on getting has a decent built in amp if you wanna use deck power for the speakers and use the amp for the sub.

I was going to suggest you get a 4 channel amp and bridge the rear channels to a sub, but you were so adamant in the original post about not ever getting a sub and not liking low bass.

Best setups in a regular cab pickup is component speakers in front, 4 channel amp, single 10" sealed sub box behind seat.

i pretty much like my music as loud as possible. but thinking back to my old truck I would turn the bass up..

so here's what I've changed.

-BOSS AUDIO Chaos Epic 1400 Watt 4 Channel MOSFET Power Amplifier CE1404

-Pyle PL1290BL 12-Inch 1200 Watt DVC Subwoofer

-Planet Audio PC2.0B 2 Farad Capacitor with Digital Voltage Display

-Atrend E12St B Box Series 12-Inch Single-Sealed Truck Enclosure

should i run the capacitor?

Well can I suggest something... Do away with Pyle... The Boss amp isnt horrible but it isnt the best either.

Lets use the car analogy... Pyle is the Geo of the stereo industry. Run from that. Boss is like Kia... there hit or miss. There amps arent bad... we carry them at my shop as a low end brand. I wouldnt recommend their subs though.

But seriously... Pyle is garbage. It'll sound like crap and if you put any real power to them minds well kiss it goodbye.

If your looking to stay in a low price range but want good sound and dependability id go with Quantum or Alumapro. Hell JL or Kenwoods low end stuff is waaaay better than Pyle.

my .02. Id love GLH's take.

NOOOOOO ! Don't buy any of that garbage ! Let us help you get quality stuff. I will send you links to some much better stuff that fit your truck and will cater to the sound you like, which is pretty much what I play in my truck and in my band.

----------

You don't have to buy from the links I post, but you can search for cheaper sources of the items.

Anyone's lowend stuff is better than Pyle or Boss or Lanzar or Audiobahn and a few others. Well... 'anyone's' is way too general also.

You do not need a capacitor.

Again, I'm just showing you quality stuff. I had a 150 watt RF 12" ported box in a Civic trunk with a mono 150 watt Kicker amp and it was more than enough. A sealed single box will be plenty in your single cab and will sound good with the type music you listen to. You can power it with the bridged rear channels of a 4 channel amp. A 50x4 amp is all you need. Should output 150 watts RMS from bridged rear channels. A 10" sealed box with 150 watts RMS specs or 50-200 or similar, will be great. Shop around.

There you go... waaaaay better options. I didnt mind the rest of his selection I was just hoping to god he'd change his mind about Pyle.

Like I said we sell Boss at our shop for the cheapos so I couldnt knock them for fear of a loss of job... but yeah your choices are miles better. And the box... well its a stock box.

But yeah... listen to GLH and I... stay away from that garbage.

All good equipment posted by GLH, only thing I'm not 100%sure on is the quality of Sony. Their car audio division is way behind their home audio stuff. I guess they're not bad for budget equipment but I'd spend a few extra $ and go with Kenwood or Alpine. And why wouldn't someone get the SO 4075 over the 4050? for $5 you get 75x4 over 50x4

Check and make sure you have the ~8" behind your console or pasenger seat for the box.
Good head for a good price. You can make good use of the HPF, time alignment, EQ, and sub control, and lots of other goodies. Best to run the amp on full range, front and rear, and do the crossovers on the head. You will simply connect a 4 way or 2-pairs of RCA patch cables to the amp RCA inputs, using the front RCA output from the head to the front RCA input on the amp and the sub RCA output from the head to the rear RCA input on the amp. You will need an 8 gauge wiring kit with an RCA patch cable, another RCA patch cable, enough 12 gauge speaker cable to go from the amp rear speaker outputs (bridged) to the sub/box, enough 16 gauge speaker wire to go from the amp front speaker outputs to the front speakers.

That new head has built-in test tones. You will use those to set the gains on the amp. You will also need a digital multi-meter (DMM).

Just get everything set up correctly first.
