Default Looking for opinions

I am pretty new to audio and know very little about setups and what not. I just put in a kenwood dnx6960
because I got a pretty good deal on it, now im looking to upgrade the speakers and put in a sub so I was looking at these

What are your thoughts? Again I have very little knowledge so any comments would be appreciated. I am looking to just get a good low end out of the sub and not use up too much space in my 2008 xlt.

I'd say no on the speakers and sub. Spend a little more the first time so you're not upgrading in a few months. What kind of budget you have.

You were doing good til you got to the sub...

Say no to that one. I could put you together a waaay better sub/amp combo for just slighty more than that garbage.

You were doing good until you got to the speakers AND sub/box.

Save and buy 1 quality piece at a time.

Are you ever planning on amping the speakers or only power them with the Kenwood head ? What type music do you listen to most ?

What year model, body style, trim, etc. is your truck ? Regular cab, supercab, 2 door, 4 door, xl, xlt, etc... ?

Do you like loud music or quality sound ? Do you like the bass to just be loud or sound tight and and punchy ? Do you like the bass to be boomy and wake your neighbors, bug the nice people in the car beside you ?

I thought I would see how the speakers sound to me with just the hu and go from there. I listen to all types of music from sinatra to techno. It is a 2008 2 door xlt. I dont want the bass to drown out the mids and highs I listen to my music loud since I most always have my windows down, so I want the bass to be loud but its a small truck so I dont need it to be that loud.

I would go with the Infinities for sensitivity and also the voice coils are actually closer to 3 ohms than 4, so since the Kenwood head outputs maybe 22 watts RMS at most, it will be closer to 30 to the Infinities. Remember, you get free tech sheets, lifetime customer support, free shipping, and free speaker wiring harnesses from Crutchfield.

Under $300. You only need the 1 set of speakers in the single cab. You should just cap off the wires to the rears and fade all the way to the front. Use the highpass filter setting in the head audio menu for 120 hz and the lowpass filter setting for 80 or 100 hz. There are settings on the powered sub itself also and the gain, all of which I can help you with alot. Don't let the little S/O sub fool you, it will be great in your small cab. Read the reviews.

I looked under the under the passenger seat and it looks that height wise that sub would be a close fit, and there are a good bit of wires that connect to the set coming out of the floor mat. I suppose I could move those around or put the sub under the drivers or somewhere in the back.

The speakers look nice and ill take your word on the quality. I am a fan of crutchfeild and understand the value of what they give you with your purchase but I found on amazon that I can get those about 30 bucks cheaper which I could use towards a amp or something, thoughts?

What you get free from Crutchfield is gonna offset the savings from Amazon and you will have lifetime tech support, free tech sheets, free wiring harnesses, great customer service after the sale, etc.

You might need to raise the seats an inch to make the sub fit better under, or mount it in the floor behind the center console.

If you have a single cab and you have component speakers or high-end coaxial/3 ways in front and a sub in the rear, you are not going to hear the rear speakers, or even know they are there. If you were to run band-passed mids in the rear speaker locations for space fill, different story.

No. The mids and highs up front combined with the bass in back will give a full sound.

----------

In a small cab like a regular or supercab Ranger, I can install a set of component speakers up front and a sub in back all powered by a 4 channel amp, and have it sound like something your friends paid $2500 for.
