Default Extra Speakers and Speaker Fitment

Have any of you ever ran extra speakers in your ranger? I have an extended cab and the previous owner nicely spliced into the factory speaker wire and ran wire off of that to power two extra speakers in the back. (One on each side) So it would be easy to run extra speakers in the back. Also i found a great deal on some 6x9" Rockford Fosgate speakers, and factory speakers are 6x8" will they fit with little trouble or should i just move on and look for other ones. Also are all 4 speakers 6x8"?

By extra, do you mean a second set of speakers in the back this having 6 speakers?
6x9's fit if you do some cutting of the speaker mount area.. heard its pretty difficult.. just stick with the 6x8's, and yes all 4 are 6x8's..

Yes i mean two extra meaning you would have six, maybe i will stick with the 6x8 but still pick up the 6x9 and if someone gives me a good idea add them to my rears. I already have a Sony single din stereo, with kenwood sub and amp.

Well you could always get the boxes for the 6x9s and mount them somewhere cool?

If you just add extra speakers in with the main 4, you will be lowering the impedance to a 2 ohm load on the head and will likely burn it up.

I can recommend some good replacement 6x8 speakers for amping with a 4 channel amp or others to power with the head-only or just compnonents in front are great with a sub in back.

Hopefully, your sony head has a highpass filter so you can seperate the lower freqs out of your full range speakers and to your sub.
