Got my owner's manual so I would know how to work my AM/FM radio (yea, yea, I'm an old dinosaur). Have treble, base, and balance controls, but no fade (no wonder I couldn't hear the back speakers). Pulled the speaker covers off in back, and there are no speakers. Cheap as Ford tends to be, suprised they'd even put the speaker covers back there. Guess if I ever want to switch out for one of those factory high-tech new-fangled CD things, it sure doesn't look like it'll just be plug and play.

You should still have the wiring back there, it might just be tucked away behind the plastics

What year is it my 99 ex cab xl had spots for speakers in the back,but I took the covers off and there were no speakers or wireing.I bought new ones for the front and put the old ones in the back and ran wire back to them.

Same happened to me in my '97. I thought it was the previous owner. Weird. Just buy some Sony Xplod's or something and throw them back there.

My '06 XL didn't have any, they just put the holes there because they use pretty much the same molds for the interior in every trim package. There wont be wiring either. I got upgraded speakers in my doors and moved my stock speakers to the back and have been happy ever since.

Hm, is it a certain model thing? My 04 had speakers back there, same as the front Ford ones. I switched them all out to after market though.

Mine came with an aftermarket HU, so idk, maybe they put in aftermarket speakers as well... Need to replace the speakers some time in the future anyway, and find a small short that presents itself when the door chime comes on some times (one speaker turns off.)
