Mitsubishi is Single Din. And the harnesses wont plug directly. Would need to find a way to get a mitsu harness to work on a Ford. Too much hassle.


And I cant believe this was mentioned... you COULD get a Double Din aftermarket radio.

And remember, youre gonna need a harness adapter, there 15 bucks at walmart. Its color coded plug and play. Suggestion, do it right... invest in a pair of crimpers(6 bucks for a cheap one... walmart again) and crimps (box of 50 is 5 bucks)... electrical tape works... but its just better to crimp them.

I know Eclipse went belly up. Who bought them ? Noone is making new Eclipse-badged units. Are y'all getting a good deal buying the old units in bulk ?

I should clarify that it's a Pioneer aftermarket unit. Will that affect the wiring harness issue? Apparently I have to go get some install keys to get the unit out of the Montero. I tried a coat hange trick I read about, didn't work.

FOr $100 the Eclipse CD1200g might just be the way to go. I can see this swap becoming a royal pain in the a%^. All I really want is the Iphone/aux port and I'll be happy. Thanks for the heads up.

installing an aftermarket headunit is EASY if you buy the wiring adapter

They didnt go under, they just withdrew their CD Decks,Speakers,subs,and amps from the North American Market. Decided to focus their attention on their Nav units here. We are an authorized Eclipse dealer so we got the last of their units still available. They pulled out after the 2010 model year. All of our units still get honored by Eclipses warranty because we got them directly from Fujitsu Ten. Most others around got them second-hand from other wholesalers so unless they personally offer the warranty, were one of the last in the US to have warrantys on them.

Butter knife works wonders... And being its aftermarket, just go to wallyworld, get the Ranger harness, cut the montero harness, switch and youre good to go. Still need an install kit though.

More like closer to 200... but yeah I recommend Eclipse over Pioneer any day.

Looks like they are on sale. Good to know I've got options, I'm leaning towards the Pioneer mostly because I like the look of a single din better. But if I can't get this unit out of the Montero with a butterknife I might be odering the 1200 G. Thanks again for all the info, it has been tremendously helpful.
